While hurricane-force winds and wildfires produce sensational headlines, flooding is, in fact, the most common and expensive natural disaster in the US. What’s concerning is that no region in the country is immune to it, given that 98% of all counties have been impacted by at least one flooding event. 

As the climate continues to change, the risk of financial loss due to flooding is increasing for US homeowners. Currently, almost 4.3 million residential homes in the United States are at high risk of financial loss due to floods. The price of flood insurance is only a fraction of the economic threat of flood damage.
